5G is a fairly new technology and it will be a few years before the mobile carrier and smartphone manufacturers roll it out, Apple has now started testing 5G for future iPhones.
Apple recently filed for an experimental license with the FCC to use 5G technology and w can expect this to be used in our future iPhones.
“Apple Inc. seeks to assess cellular link performance in direct path and multipath environments between base station transmitters and receivers using this spectrum,” according to the application.
“These assessments will provide engineering data relevant to the operation of devices on wireless carriers’ future 5G networks,” it continued.
Apple will apparently be testing out the 5G technology at two fixed points which are located at Apple facilities in Cupertino and Milpitas, California.
5G is expected to significantly increase mobile Internet speeds over the current 4G that is widely used today, although it will be a couple of years before the technology is rolled out.
